About The Departments

The department of Accountancy of Gauhati Commerce College came into being in the year 1965. Since its inception, the department has contributed substantially in dissemination of knowledge in the various subjects under its domain, as prescribed by Gauhati University through various course curriculums. At present, under CBCS system the subjects namely Financial Accounting, Corporate Accounting, Income Tax Law & Practices, e-filing of returns, Management Accounting, Advanced Financial Accounting, Auditing, Indirect Tax Laws, Advanced Corporate Accounting, Business Research methods & Project work etc. are being taught. The department imparts teaching in both traditional as well as digital mode in smart classrooms. The practical classes on Tally ERP, e-filing of returns etc. are imparted through application software in digital mode. At present, the teaching faculty strength of the department stands at 11 members. The department also organizes workshops, seminars, lectures &other programmes, for the overall development of the students, from time to time, some of which includes: 1. A quiz competition and a climate awareness campaign which was organised on 23rd June 2022, in collaboration with Guwahati Smart City Limited. 2. Talkshow on the topic “Leadership-Shifting Dimensions in 21st Century” which was organised on 24th June, 2022 3. Face your examination with a smile organised to mark the occasion of “Azadika Amrit Mahotsav” in association with Vivekanda Kendra, Guwahati Branch on 30th June, 2022. 4. A Career Counselling program was organised on 2nd July, 2022 in association with “Scordemy”
