About The Departments

The department was initiated with the introduction of the subject ‘Information Technology in Business’ compulsorily in B. Com (1+1+1) Course in 2003. Presently the department teaches Computer Application in Business and E-Commerce in B.Com Course. The subject Environmental Studies has also been attached with IT Department since 2016. The different subjects taught under the department comprises of Computer Application in Business as a compulsory paper in B.Com 3rd Semester, E-Commerce (SEC, Optional) in 4th semester and for 2nd semester Environmental Studies paper as an Ability Enhancement and compulsory paper. Computer Science& Applications (optional) and Environmental Education (compulsory) are two papers undertaken by the department for the Higher Secondary Course. The current strength of the department stands at 3. The facilities available in the department include a Computer Lab equipped with internet facility through college Wi-Fi. The Computer Lab has 50 numbers of Computers for its students where the practical classes for the subjects, ‘Computer Application in Business’ of B.Com (CBCS) 3rdSemester and ‘E-Commerce’ in 4th Semester are taken. The IT Department has the facility of books and old project Reports in the Department for its teachers and for the help of the students for reading only. Apart from the regular academic and research activities, the department also organized in collaboration with IQAC, Gauhati Commerce College, a Two Day Faculty Orientation Programme on 27th & 28th May, 2022.
