About The Departments

During the post liberalization period with the demand for post graduate degree and limited seats available in the department of Commerce at Gauhati University, Gauhati Commerce College decided to go for vertical expansion by opening up the Department of M.Com by the then Principal, Dr. B.C Lahkar. The college started imparting education in Post Graduate course in Commerce (M.Com) with effect from the academic session 1992-93 with permission from and affiliation to the Gauhati University offering specialization in Accounting & Finance and Management & Marketing. Over the years the department is running successfully with glorious academic results as well as non-academic activities and providing continuous quality education to the students' fraternity in the commerce stream and also to the society at large with the assistance of a small team of seven dedicated and efficient faculty members under the able guidance and leadership of Principal and Co-Ordinator of the Department. The Department proudly celebrates its 25 glorious years (2016- 17) of its existence with its students showing excellence in both academic and non-academic activities since its inception. The interested students who wish to pursue their career in teaching are motivated and guided by the teachers to prepare and qualify in NET and SLET examinations from M.Com 3rd semester onwards. The Department has digital classroom facility with a library and a seminar hall as well.
